Goodbye to all that…

With the Hydro in and running I won’t be updating this site on a regular basis any more unless there is a major development.  I plan to report from time to time on how the path is regenerating itself.  I’ll leave the site itself in place indefinitely as it should be a useful resource for […]

Post Holiday Update

No updates for a while as I have been away on holiday so a few things to report now. The hydro appears to be in full operation.  It regularly stops and starts running and this appears to be related to how much rain there has been and therefore how much water is in the river.  […]

Noise from Turbine

This is the noise the turbine makes at about 1m from the pump house (c. 65db).  It is still audible at about 30m away and certainly from Inveronich Cottage.  Click on the image for the video.

Some further developments

It is now one week before the due date for the Hydro to be completed.  We have been informed, however, that because the turbine is connected to the grid, and has actually been run (even though for a very short period of time) this constitutes “commissioned” and therefore the level of the fit tariff is […]

Two weeks to go

I heard that there has been confirmation from the Planning Authority that the developer will not be leaving the path in its current state and further restoration work is due to go ahead to restore the banks and vegetation.  The area around the Pump House has now been partially restored with chippings and looks a […]

No idea what is happening now…

Most active work at the hydro now seems to have ceased (possibly for the Glasgow fair holiday?).  The path is still unsurfaced and looks like a building site; I asked the planning department if it was still supposed to be opening on 1st August (which is now today) and they had no info that it […]

Doors on and a Satellite Dish appears

The doors are now on the pump house and a satellite dish has appeared at the back. The tailrace now seems to be finished apart from there is no grill over it (there are slots for it), leaving a huge bore pipe for animals to wander in to.  I’ll mention this to the planners (again).  […]

More progress

Things are coming on apace now.  In the pump house all the electrics are now wired in and attached to the turbine.  There is a new door lying on its side outside so these may be some of the last shots I can take of the interior. The tailrace was completed today; the last tree […]

Significant progress made on path

There has been a lot of progress made on the path in the last couple of days.  A lot of it has been levelled off ready to be surfaced, and (critically) drainage pipes are now funnelling the water into a channel at the side rather than having it running down the middle.  A lot of […]

Further communication about the Louvres

We have now received a further communication from Hydroplan apologising for the lack of consultation about the Louvres and stating unequivocally their commitment to ensuring that the scheme complies with the noise limits laid out in the original planning consent.  This was their answers to residents’ questions. Who exactly made the decision to alter the position of […]
