Flow of River

I thought it would be potentially illuminating to take some photos of the Donich Water today for later comparison. This is after a couple of weeks of heavy rain, and the river is pretty high, though by no manner of means in spate. The river right at the top where the hydro inlet is to […]

Progress at bottom of Hydro

The site for the Powerhouse at Inoveronich has been flattened, and large numbers of pipes have been delivered and are stacked up waiting.

Progress at top of Hydro

I walked up to the top site this morning in driving snow. Significant progress has been made:- a) A road bed has been dug out along the side of the existing path, almost as far along to where the path starts to slope steeply down towards the waterfalls. b) The excavation for the pipes seems […]

Update on progress

The work seems to be progressing according to schedule at the inlet (top) end of the project. The gallery pictures (click on the main image picture for more) were taken this afternoon. Some large gauge pipes have arrived on site, one culvert has been cut to let a stream flow into the Donich, and there […]

Considerably more construction work done

With the road finished, the construction work has moved to the ‘top end’ where the dam is to be created. I walked up to take a look last night – they seem to be working very hard as there are people there until the light is going at night. To see the work in progress […]

Extra trees marked for felling

One of the Inveronich residents has queried the developer around a number of trees (17 or 18) which appear to have been marked for felling around the area where the powerhouse is to be situated. These do not seem to correspond with the planning regulations which stated that only 2 trees would be felled. The […]

Rather misleading notice

A notice has appeared on the Forestry Commission board just outside the Arboretum stating that the Donich Circular is closed until Sept 2016. This is in fact incorrect as a) it is open b) a condition of planning permission was that it would only be closed for 3 months – not nearly a year.

Construction started in earnest

Construction of the hydro proper has now begun at the top end. We also received the construction method statement and notice of initiation of construction which I have attached to this post. I had a very quick look at it earlier today and didn’t see anything overtly unreasonable, although the timelines for getting it completed […]

Road construction complete

The road as far as Inveronich has now been completed and looks to be done to a high standard. There was also not much disruption so if this continues it bodes well for the rest of the development. I’ve asked the developer to put up a sign informing people that the road is not for […]

Road construction continuing

The road is continuing to be worked on. Yesterday and today they were putting tarmac down so I am guessing they will be finished this part soon. To clarify – we have been informed by the planning department that the road construction is not an official ‘start’ for the development, so the actual Construction Method […]
